About The Position

LG Energy Solution Vertech is seeking an intern or co-op student to join its EMO/AI Data team and contribute to projects addressing challenges in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role applies data science methods and advanced algorithms to improve data-driven products and support safer, more reliable, and more efficient grid integration. The position is onsite at the Westborough office and requires availability for at least four months.

Requirements

• Experience with time series models.
• Good understanding of traditional machine learning models.
• Available for at least four months of internship.
• Enrolled in or graduated with a Ph.D. or master's degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, or an equivalent field.
• Proficient in Python and standard machine learning tools and packages.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, or GCP, and containers such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Good understanding of software design methodologies.
• User-level experience with Git or equivalent.
• Legally authorized to work in the USA.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1–2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Familiarity with microservices infrastructure on the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Predictive Analytics team on research, exploratory data analysis, and data model development.
• Use AI models to generate synthetic labels to improve and calibrate machine learning models.
• Research industry best practices and algorithm applications in battery analytics to inform project approaches.
• Assist in building, testing, and validating machine learning pipelines for predictive maintenance, performance optimization, and anomaly detection in BESS.
• Communicate findings through visualizations, presentations, and documentation for technical and non-technical teams.
