About The Position

This position involves planning, directing, and coordinating systems analysis for a major segment of the statewide automatic data processing system. The role includes scheduling activities, evaluating staff work, drafting procedural manuals, and potentially performing complex systems analysis evaluations. The Data Processing Systems Analyst VI will supervise subordinate analysts and team/unit leaders, evaluating their performance and providing necessary training.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex written material.
  • Ability to solve complex problems logically and systematically.
  • 3.5 years of progressively responsible work experience in computer systems analysis which involved the analysis and design of systems for electronic processing of data or stored computer programming experience which included participation in systems analysis.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming, which included planning and directing the work of others, assigning and reviewing their work, advising them on difficult and complex problem areas, and timing and scheduling their work.
  • For the Data Processing Systems Analysts VI level, at least one year of the required Specialized Experience must have been at the fully competent level comparable to the class Data Processing Systems Analyst IV in the State service.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in another major including completion of course work comparable to a major in computer science may be substituted for six (6) months of Specialized Experience.
  • A Master’s degree in information and computer science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one and one-half (1-1/2) years of Specialized Experience.
  • A Doctorate’s degree in information and computer science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of Specialized Experience.
  • Excess Supervisory Experience of the type and quality described above may be substituted for Specialized Experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and coordinates systems analysis relative to a major segment of the statewide automatic data processing system.
  • Schedules activities and/or projects.
  • Evaluates staff work, assuring compliance with procedures, schedules and instructions.
  • Drafts procedural manuals and other guide materials.
  • May perform systems analysis evaluations of operations which are predominantly professional, scientific, highly technical or of an equivalent subject matter and operational complexity and subject to frequent changes in workloads, programs and organization when workload requires.
  • Supervises subordinate analysts and team/unit leaders, evaluating their performance and providing training as needed.
