Data Privacy Legal Intern
About The Position
The Utah Office of Data Privacy has an opening for a legal intern. This position may be filled as a paid position that is ineligible for school credit or an unpaid position that may be eligible for school credit. The Office of Data Privacy cannot guarantee school credit, and applicants are encouraged to check with their school’s internship coordinator. This role involves assisting different programs within the Utah Office of Data Privacy, with a primary focus on the development of new data governance models. The legal intern will be tasked with researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing various legal and governmental documents.
Requirements
- Current or recently graduated law student
- Resume and writing sample submission
- Understanding of the relationship between laws, rules, regulations, executive orders, ordinances, policies, and case law
- Familiarity with the legislative and administrative rulemaking process
- Ability to understand complex legal concepts and efficiently conduct legal research
Responsibilities
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing state and federal constitutional provisions, laws, rules, and regulations
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing executive orders
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing ordinances enacted by political subdivisions
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing internal policies of governmental entities
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing court decisions
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing administrative decisions and rulings
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing proposed state or federal legislation
