Data Operations Manager

GenesisSan Carlos, CA

About The Position

Genesis is a full-stack general-purpose robot company with a mission to make general-purpose robots a reality, unlocking infinite physical labor for the world and freeing people for creativity, exploration, and the pursuits they love for their own sake. The company is backed by prominent partners and investors and has teams working across the Bay Area and Europe. Genesis recently unveiled Eno, its wheeled, dexterous robot powered by its GENE foundation model, and is beginning to deploy it with customers. The core challenge in building these robots is not the model itself, but the data: real-world manipulation data that doesn't exist on the internet. Genesis has developed a unique data-collection glove, designed to match the robot hand's geometry, which allows ordinary work to be captured as training data for the robot. This, combined with their hardware, simulation, and models, forms a tight loop creating the most scalable manipulation data engine globally. This role is responsible for running this engine on the ground, owning the system that transforms stations, workforce, and facilities into a reliable operation from operator to accepted hour, and scaling it from a single floor to a global, multi-shift operation while maintaining world-class quality.

Requirements

  • Proven experience building data collection operations at scale, specifically in teleoperation, glove, or human-data operations within robotics, AI, or top data operations companies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the difference between collected hours and hours that effectively train a model.
  • Expertise in throughput optimization, including scheduling, utilization, and yield.
  • Experience running operations with a high, measurable quality bar and maintaining it without compromising efficiency.
  • Strong bias for action, deep ownership, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ability to build and lead high-performing teams, including hiring and coaching.
  • Experience working across multiple sites and cultures, including comfort with international collaboration and operating across time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Run the floor end to end, owning scheduling, operator utilization, station uptime, and throughput to deliver accepted hours at the quality bar weekly.
  • Build the operator bench by recruiting, leveling, and developing operators and senior operators for multiple shifts and sites.
  • Establish and maintain one standard across all floors and partner sites, ensuring adherence to the same playbook, metrics, and quality bar.
  • Identify and root-cause issues that slow down operations, and implement SOPs, layouts, and tooling to accelerate future site ramps.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Process, and Annotation functions to ensure collected hours are converted into training-ready data.
  • Oversee partner-site collection by rehearsing and running mock-runs and initial deployments with partner operators.
  • Develop reporting systems to provide honest company-wide updates on collection volume, quality, and cost.
