About The Position

FilmoreAI is building the intelligence layer for the construction equipment industry, a multi-hundred-billion-dollar economy. Dealers currently manage the machine lifecycle across numerous disconnected systems and rely heavily on tribal knowledge. FilmoreAI is developing a data and AI system that utilizes a proprietary ontology to connect various data sources such as ERP work orders, CRM opportunities, OEM telematics, UCC filings, auction results, and DMS transactions into a unified model. The initial focus is on the aftermarket, where dealers generate the majority of their profit and data is most complex. The product involves parsing public information across all 50 states, normalizing telematics across OEM standards, and resolving entities across disparate systems.

Requirements

  • SQL fluency (3+ years) including joins, window functions, and CTEs, with the ability to interpret query execution plans.
  • Postgres preferred; BigQuery a plus.
  • Python proficiency (2+ years), including the ability to read and fix scrapers, parse CSVs, and write one-off backfill scripts.
  • Comfort with libraries like requests and pandas, and experience with messy notebooks.
  • Advanced Excel and spreadsheet skills, including pivots, lookups, conditional logic, and basic modeling.
  • Operational discipline, including running weekly checklists without drift, logging activities, and providing clear handoff notes.
  • Strong outreach and negotiation skills, including the ability to explain data needs to county clerks and vendors.
  • Ability to operate without direct supervision, identifying data gaps and taking initiative.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring that issues like scrapers returning zero rows or duplicate filings are caught.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing circumstances, such as changes in county data availability or vendor file formats.
  • Bias towards action and asking questions, escalating issues promptly when encountering roadblocks.
  • Proactive identification and flagging of data anomalies before they propagate.
  • Understanding and commitment to the company's mission of replacing tribal knowledge with data-driven insights.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools like Claude or Cursor for tasks such as SQL drafting, regex, error log triage, and email drafting.
  • Ability to design effective AI prompts with context, including schemas, example outputs, and failure cases.
  • Experience building reusable prompts for recurring tasks.
  • Ability to delegate repetitive tasks to AI models and review their output critically.
  • Understanding of when to manually verify AI-generated outputs, especially for production data and client-facing reports.
  • Calibrated approach to AI, not blindly trusting model outputs.

Nice To Haves

  • Government and public records experience (UCC, secretary of state, permits, court records).
  • Experience with data QA and lead scoring.
  • Basic dbt knowledge.
  • Geospatial fundamentals (lat/lng, FIPS).

Responsibilities

  • Run the daily and weekly operations of the data system, monitoring over 50 scrapers for various data sources (UCC vendors, county registries, permit systems, telematics feeds, enrichment APIs).
  • Triage failures, identifying issues such as rate limits, schema drift, expired credentials, or actual bugs, and routing them appropriately.
  • Maintain quality gates and dashboards to catch silent failures before they impact engineers or dealers.
  • Expand data coverage by acquiring data that cannot be scraped, including negotiating access with county clerks and recorders for UCC filing data, bulk exports, and secretary-of-state portals.
  • Manage vendor relationships and their credential and renewal calendars.
  • Document all data sources, including what, where, who, cost, and refresh cadence, to ensure team trust in the data inventory.
  • Translate raw data into actionable answers by running ad-hoc SQL queries to address questions from sales representatives and the founder.
  • Manage the lead-quality QA loop to ensure the platform provides reliable leads to sales representatives.
  • Pull samples, review data, and provide concise explanations for sales managers.

Benefits

  • Competitive market compensation.
  • Direct access to the founder.
  • Fast decision-making.
  • Async-first communication with clear written updates.
  • Open to contracting and scope or hours if preferred.
