Data Migration Lead / Architect
About The Position
The Data Migration Lead / Architect is the architectural lead for migrating AFRH’s legacy clinical, dental, pharmacy, and administrative data into MHS GENESIS. The role designs how data from more than ten legacy systems—including Dr. Cloud, Point Click Care, Eagle Soft, Diamond EHR PRO, EPIC, AthenaOne, NovaNet, Insight Go, and SRTS—is mapped and migrated cleanly, and is responsible for defending migration decisions. The position is contingent upon award. The role designs the end-to-end migration architecture, owns source-to-target mapping and data model reconciliation, and leads Senior Data Engineers, ETL Analysts, and the Data Quality team through execution. It defines migration tooling architecture and automation standards, drives the data-quality framework, and produces migration architecture artifacts for Government review. The architect partners with the Chief Architect, Integration Lead, and Cutover Manager on sequencing and dependencies.
Requirements
- Lead-architect-level data migration experience on an EHR consolidation or Federal health-IT program.
- Deep expertise in source-to-target mapping and canonical modeling.
- ETL tooling architecture experience with Informatica, Talend, Rhapsody, or an equivalent tool.
- Fluency in HL7 v2, FHIR, and CCDA for clinical data.
- Hands-on experience with reconciliation, data quality rules, and cutover rehearsal strategy.
- Education and experience requirement: Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years, Master’s degree plus 10 years, Ph.D. plus 7 years, Associate’s degree plus 14 years, or 16 years of experience without a degree.
- Federal facility access / background investigation clearance.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) by Day 1.
Nice To Haves
- At least one prior MHS GENESIS, Cerner, Epic, or large EHR migration as lead architect or deputy.
- Oracle Health / Cerner Millennium data model familiarity.
- AWS or Azure data-platform certifications.
- Experience with VA/VistA data migration.
Responsibilities
- Design the end-to-end data migration architecture, including source analysis, canonical mapping, ETL framework, reconciliation, and cutover sequencing.
- Own source-to-target mapping decisions and data model reconciliation to MHS GENESIS.
- Lead Senior Data Engineers, ETL Analysts, and the Data Quality team through execution.
- Define migration tooling architecture and automation standards.
- Partner with the Chief Architect, Integration Lead, and Cutover Manager on sequencing and dependencies.
- Drive the data-quality framework, including rules, thresholds, and reconciliation reporting.
- Produce migration architecture artifacts for Government review.
