About The Position

The TA (Zoom co-host) will meet with the instructor at the start of the day to go over any logistics for the course (breakout rooms, polling, timing of breaks, etc). Test screen sharing to make sure instructor is ready for presentation for audience. The waiting room is opened by the TA to allow in registrants and start taking attendance. The TA will start the course with an introduction script. Once the course is started, the TA will need to do the following in assisting the course instructor: Watch for hands up that don’t get answered, be aware of technology blips (a bunch of attendees fall off suddenly), act as a timekeeper for breaks OR specific instructor needs, serve as a communication go-between with students, track people who need help (tech, Q&A, etc.) and make sure they get what they need, deal with Zoom polling if needed by instructor, use Yes/no responses through Zoom, mute people as needed, coordinate with the instructor who will set up break-out rooms, and remind people at the end of class to please complete the online evaluation once it is emailed to them.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Zoom
  • Ability to manage breakout rooms
  • Experience with Zoom polling
  • Familiarity with Zoom's Yes/no response feature
  • Ability to mute attendees
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to track and manage attendee needs
  • Attention to detail for monitoring hands raised and technology issues
  • Time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Meet with the instructor at the start of the day to go over course logistics (breakout rooms, polling, timing of breaks, etc.)

  • Monitor for technology issues such as sudden attendee drop-offs
  • Act as a timekeeper for breaks or specific instructor needs
  • Serve as a communication liaison between students and the instructor
  • Track attendees needing assistance (tech, Q&A, etc.) and ensure their needs are met
  • Manage Zoom polling as required by the instructor
  • Utilize Zoom's Yes/no response feature
  • Mute attendees as necessary
  • Coordinate with the instructor regarding the setup of breakout rooms
  • Remind attendees at the end of class to complete the online evaluation
