The Data Management Analyst is responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting of outcome data to the territorial and divisional teams in support of organizational functions including operational, strategic decision-making, and grant funding analysis/reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required along with applicable work experience.
  • Two years of relevant experience, including at least two years conducting data management using a variety of software (e.g., SQL, WellSky Community Services, SAP, or Access).
  • Strong analytic background; at least 2 years conducting and interpreting quantitative analyses.
  • Experience with non-profit/social service organizations.
  • Familiarity with planning, generating and collating survey results utilizing SurveyMonkey or other survey tools.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership and field personnel.
  • Excellent computer skills to include: Microsoft 365: Excel, Access, PowerPoint and other applications in the office suite; SQL, SPSS or SAS, and Power BI.
  • Excellent data management skills.
  • Experienced and skilled in using a variety of techniques ranging from simple data aggregation to complex data mining.
  • Advanced knowledge of research methodology.
  • Excellent data interpretation skills as well as report development and presentation of information.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to act in a professional and effective way with internal and external teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Must be able to work with others to anticipate, identify and solve problems related to individual database use or system-wide issues.
  • Understands program evaluation processes and techniques, and best practices regarding evaluative research.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred in research, program evaluation, and statistics.
  • Previous completion of SIMS Community Services Systems Administrator Training and SAP Business Objects Reporting highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, analyze, and report outcome data to territorial and divisional teams for operational and strategic decision-making, and grant funding analysis/reporting.
  • Provide internal and external data management and analysis for social service programs utilizing Salvation Army Information Management System (SIMS) and WellSky Community Services.
  • Contribute to strategic decision making, programmatic outcomes, contract compliance, and grant funding reporting.
  • Develop and maintain systems for data management and analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with Client Management Systems Administrators (CMSA) to ensure SIMS architecture and functionality meets organizational needs and end-user accessibility.
  • Function as the primary report writer using WellSky Community Services and SAP Business Objects for territorial level reporting, and provide report writing assistance to divisional social services staff.
  • Consult with Territorial and Divisional program directors to support SIMS implementation and ensure it aligns with programmatic goals and quality assurance functions.
  • Facilitate the collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data in collaboration with CMSA’s and program personnel.
  • Design and execute data extraction methodologies for outcomes measurement of assigned projects, including Pathway of Hope (POH).
  • Develop, organize, and manage client indicators utilizing Excel, WellSky Community Services, SurveyMonkey, MS Office Forms, SA National Statistical System, and other data management systems.
  • Review data for accuracy in preparation for analysis of client and programmatic outcomes measurements and reporting.
  • Promote consistency in data use across the organization for accurate management analyses and reports.
  • Support the development of interpretation and summarization of outcome results, synthesizing information from multiple sources into clear, actionable summaries.
  • Assist Territorial and Divisional teams with data implications and utility to build capacity for data utilization in program management and improvements.
  • Develop and generate summaries that meet requested reporting criteria for internal and external requirements in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner.
  • Develop and maintain management reports supporting program evaluation and operational performance.
  • Support the training and staff development plan to ensure accurate SIMS use by end users.
  • Collaborate with the SIMS Committee and Divisional System Administrators to address system-wide quality improvements and data needs.
  • Collaborate with national and other territorial System Administrators to address system-wide quality improvements and data needs.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely through written and verbal reporting of data implications, trends, and results tied to established outcome measures.
  • Assist territorial and divisional grant writing staff to mine specific data for new social services grant proposals.
  • Assist divisional staff with program evaluation and the DHQ/THQ review processes.
  • Maintain an active relationship with the Territorial Statistical Bureau.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of WellSky Community Services and other approved internal and external systems, upgrades, and version releases.
  • Attend educational opportunities when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
