About The Position

As part of Redcare Pharmacy’s Data & AI Governance team, the Data Governance Specialist helps govern data throughout its lifecycle so it can be discovered, understood, and used responsibly. The role manages and develops the data catalog and service desk, helping teams navigate governance requirements and adopt practical solutions that balance innovation with effective risk management.

The specialist works in a modern Data & AI environment. Relevant technologies include Databricks, Purview, and the Azure ecosystem; Python and SQL can be used to identify automation opportunities and optimize governance processes. The role partners with technical teams, business stakeholders, and Governance, Risk & Compliance experts across the organization.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience managing and enriching data catalogs using platforms such as Purview, Databricks, Collibra, or similar tools.
• Solid understanding of data governance principles and practices, including data quality, classification, lineage, access management, and data ownership.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards.
• Analytical thinking and an interest in working with structured data, identifying process improvements, and exploring automation opportunities.
• Confidence working in a distributed team, balancing independence with collaboration and partnering with technical experts and business stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
• Experience with Databricks, Purview, and the Azure ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Implement governance controls and improve the data catalog, including data classification, data quality, access to data products, and data lineage.
• Maintain clear records of data owners and stewards.
• Identify opportunities to optimize governance processes and implement automations that make them more efficient, scalable, and user-friendly.
• Partner with data and AI engineers and business stakeholders to develop practical governance solutions that fit into everyday workflows.
• Collaborate with Governance, Risk & Compliance experts to improve the end-to-end audit trail and ensure data-related processes are transparent and traceable.
• Manage the data catalog and service desk, helping teams navigate governance requirements and adopt practical solutions.
