About The Position

Reporting to the Master Data Governance Manager, the Data Governance Lead will spearhead our data governance initiatives and ensure the integrity, quality, and security of our organization's data assets. The Data Governance Lead will be responsible for managing tasks and deliverables and guiding the Data Governance team on best practices in relation to data governance frameworks, policies, and processes to support our strategic objectives and regulatory compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years Data Governance work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5-10 years equivalent work experience in business, Supply Chain Management, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in data management or SAP
  • Strong SAP skills (Tables, Extracts, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, IF statements).
  • Knowledge of data governance processes.
  • Medium/High-level expertise in master data management within SAP.
  • Strong understanding of business processes related to merchandise systems and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify data-related trends and issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and capable of anticipating team needs.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with key business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BI tools (Power Bi, Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the organization's data governance vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Enforce governance objectives, priorities, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist with governance structures, roles, and responsibilities to support effective data stewardship and accountability.
  • Design, document, and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Define data classification schemes, data ownership models, and data lifecycle management practices.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Assist in establishing data quality standards, metrics, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with data owners and stewards to identify data quality issues and root causes.
  • Implement data quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions as needed.
  • Implement metadata management processes to capture and maintain data lineage, definitions and dependencies.
  • Establish data dictionaries, glossaries, and cataloging tools to facilitate metadata discovery and documentation.
  • Promote metadata standards and best practices across the organization.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on data governance principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Raise awareness of data management best practices and their importance to business operations.
  • Foster a culture of data stewardship, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish mechanisms for governance oversight, including regular reviews and audits.
  • Monitor compliance with data governance policies and assess effectiveness of controls.
  • Prepare and present data governance reports, dashboards, and metrics to senior leadership.
