CGS is seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry/Docketing Technician to manage the accurate entry, tracking, and maintenance of legal case information within automated systems. This role requires familiarity with litigation processes and office software to docket court activities, maintain case files, and ensure timely communication of case updates. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to support legal staff by reviewing data, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with court procedures and documentation standards. Requirements

  • Familiarity of the capabilities, operating characteristics and functions of a variety of office automation software (e.g., word processing software, docketing automation systems, electronic mail, and litigation support software) and knowledge of the similarities, differences and integration of the different software types.
  • Familiarity with a variety of computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of litigation processes and court proceedings to recognize case status and to analyze case files and other source documents to identify errors in either input documents and automated records.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology to understand complex legal terms and phrases, document formats and litigative procedures to effectively communicate with legal staff and to determine what information should be entered into automated records.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical abilities.

  • Ability to review and analyze, and enter information from multiple sources
  • Ability to establish case/project files
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data from databases with accuracy
  • Ability to manipulate, transfer, compute, and print information
  • Ability to prepare and correct reports and correspondence using word processing software
  • Ability to calendar court deadlines
  • Answer inquiries regarding case-related information as maintained in the database
  • Answer inquiries regarding case-related status
  • Maintain internal status information on the disposition of designated information, files, and assets
  • Assure information is accurate and perform analytical computations necessary to process data
  • High school Diploma is required.
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.

  • At least one year of legal experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and inputs all new criminal cases, civil cases, declinations, and Rule 5 cases into database and prepares individual case file.
  • Notifies proper USAO employees of case openings.
  • Prepares and distributes weekly reports of court appearances.
  • Dockets, maintains, updates, and calendars all hearings and notices from Court Electronic Case Files (ECF) into both database and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Prints and places all court documents i.e. Complaints, Judgements, Information, Plea Agreements, Indictments into proper case files and inputs information into database.
  • Compiles bi-annual case reports for certification.
  • Receives and distributes applicable sealed documents and post-disposition hearings.
  • Checks ECF folders for information requiring action and notifies proper USAO employees.
  • Reviews data and reports to identify errors.
  • Ensures proper format, spelling, punctuation, capitalization and grammar.
  • Makes required corrections requested by authorized USAO employees.
  • Performs other related duties.
