This position is contingent upon award. The Data Entry Technician (Docketing) supports the U.S. Attorney’s Office by managing and maintaining case-related data within internal databases and systems. This role is critical for ensuring accurate tracking of criminal and civil cases, supporting legal staff, and maintaining compliance with court procedures and documentation standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general office automation tools.
  • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data from multiple sources.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of legal or litigation support experience.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and docketing systems.
  • Experience working with case management databases or litigation support software.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and maintain data for new criminal, civil, declination, and Rule 5 cases in internal systems.
  • Create and organize case files and notify appropriate personnel of case openings.
  • Docket, update, and calendar court hearings, deadlines, and notices using court systems (e.g., ECF) and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Review and process court documents (complaints, indictments, plea agreements, judgments, etc.) and ensure proper filing.
  • Generate and distribute reports, including weekly court appearance reports and bi-annual case certifications.
  • Monitor electronic case files for updates requiring action and notify relevant staff.
  • Receive, track, and distribute sealed documents and post-disposition materials.
  • Perform data validation, identify errors, and correct discrepancies in records.
  • Ensure all documentation meets formatting, grammar, and quality standards.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding case status and database information.
  • Perform additional administrative and data-related duties as assigned.
