About The Position

The Data Entry Assistant position inputs and audits bills, processes and scans paperwork, and manifests loads. This role is responsible for gaining a thorough understanding of Erb’s computer system for data entry, scanning, and manifesting functions, and being knowledgeable of each job requirement with the ability to fill in as needed. The position requires accurately entering customer bill of lading information, ensuring correctness in terms, weight, interline functions, and COD procedures. The assistant will apply pro bill stickers to bills before keying in the information, print manifests for Regional, Truckload, and LTL shipments, and identify COD customers and rate their bills according to Erb’s rate schedule. Additional duties include photocopying bills as necessary, coordinating with the dock on load priorities for data entry, and forwarding invoices with insufficient billing information to the Credit department. The role also involves coordinating with Dispatch to send movements to other terminals, following up on EDI procedures, providing stickers, reports, and bills for updates to the dock, and updating pro number information. The Data Entry Assistant will also rate COD freight bills, stay informed on new customer information and billings, and collaborate with the Operations Manager and operational staff to ensure clarity and accuracy in paper flow. This position will also assist in the continuous training of new staff and perform any other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in keyboarding with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with transportation terminology and shipping documentation.
  • Experience with document-scanning equipment.
  • Strong ability to collaborate in a team environment.
