Data Engineering Feature Lead - Technology
About The Position
The Claims Data Emerging Technology team is seeking a Feature Lead to guide a data engineering team comprising software and quality engineers and business analysts who develop and manage services. The role provides leadership, technical direction, and oversight for technology solutions, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex programs. It aligns technical solutions with business objectives and ensures coding practices and quality meet software development standards. The Feature Lead is expected to conduct multiple software implementations and apply broad and deep technical expertise. As an individual contributor in a team lead capacity, the Feature Lead is accountable for feature delivery, guides work breakdown and execution, mentors team members, and helps maintain sound engineering practices. The role collaborates with product owners and stakeholders to clarify requirements, develop scalable and secure solutions, and ensure delivery readiness, performance, code quality, and production preparation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Big Data, including the Hadoop ecosystem and Python.
- Solid experience with Enterprise Data Management, Data Architecture, and Data Governance in ADS-like systems.
- 2+ years of experience with MongoDB or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Apache Kafka messaging frameworks.
- Experience with source control tools such as BitBucket or Git.
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and JUnit.
- Experience with Agile or iterative development and the full software development lifecycle.
- Good communication skills and the ability to engage and influence teams across technology and business.
Nice To Haves
- Understanding of leveraging GenAI capabilities for code generation and process simplification or streamlining.
- Exposure to cloud technologies and platforms.
- Experience in Oracle SQL ETL application development.
- Knowledge of Java.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and take accountability for feature delivery.
- Apply enterprise standards for solution design, coding, and quality.
- Ensure solutions meet product acceptance criteria while minimizing technical debt.
- Guide the team in work breakdown and execution.
- Work with the Product Owner to maintain a healthy product backlog and clear acceptance criteria.
- Serve as an individual-contributor team lead and mentor the team.
- Guide team members in planning, estimation, peer reviews, and other engineering practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and design scalable, fault-tolerant, performant, and secure solutions.
- Lead low-level technical design and ensure overall code quality through code reviews.
- Ensure deployment readiness, including production preparation, performance optimization, and database tasks.
