About The Position
Join Walmart as a Senior Data Engineer and leverage your expertise in data strategy, integration, and architecture to design and implement scalable data solutions. You will develop and optimize data pipelines, ensure data quality and governance, and translate complex business requirements into effective data models. Collaborating across functions, you will support data-driven decision-making by enabling reliable access to high-quality data. This role demands strong technical proficiency in SQL and cloud platforms, combined with a strategic understanding of data ecosystems to drive impactful business outcomes. Our Data Engineering team delivers enterprise-wide impact through Ops Portal, supporting over 1.2 million users, including frontline associates and leadership. We develop data pipelines that drive key performance indicators across critical business areas such as Finance, Workforce, Fashion, Walmart+, Fresh, Supply Chain, and Sam’s Club. This broad scope provides a comprehensive view of Walmart’s operations. The team values strong engineering standards, rapid delivery, and meaningful outcomes. Requirements
- Extensive experience in data engineering, including data integration, modeling, and pipeline development.
- Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, or Google BigQuery.
- Strong understanding of data governance, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to design and implement scalable data architectures aligned with business strategies.
- Skilled in transforming complex business requirements into effective data solutions.
- Knowledge of data strategy principles and the application of data ecosystem components.
- Experience with coding, testing, and deploying data solutions using appropriate programming languages.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related field.
- 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
- Master's degree in Computer Science and 1 year’s experience in software engineering or related field.
- 2 years' experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.
Nice To Haves
- Data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics, ETL tools and working with large data sets in the cloud.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years' experience in software engineering.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

- Conduct code development, testing, and deployment to deliver reliable data engineering solutions.
