About The Position

NBME is seeking a Data Engineer to join a growing team of data engineers and BI developers responsible for a data product on AWS for medical doctors. The role will help modernize, expand, and optimize NBME’s data platform by building data lakes, complex data integration pipelines, and scalable data solutions that support analytics, AI/ML, and business decision-making. The position also applies AI-assisted engineering practices to improve development efficiency and shares related best practices across the IT organization. The position is primarily hybrid, with applicants within 50 miles of NBME’s Philadelphia office prioritized. Onsite interviews and onboarding at the Philadelphia office may be required, with advance notice provided when applicable. The Data Engineer works with internal staff and external customers, supports data platform and product development, and collaborates with subject matter experts, data analysts, architects, DevOps engineers, and other data engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and six years of relevant work experience.
At least three years of Data Engineering and Data Warehousing experience.
At least two years of experience with Python.
At least two years of experience with data integration tools such as Informatica, Boomi, or AWS Glue.
At least one year of experience with AWS services such as S3 and Redshift.
Expertise in data modeling, database management, and data profiling, particularly in data warehousing, Master Data Management (MDM), and the design and delivery of Business Intelligence solutions.
Deep understanding of industry standards and best practices.
Strong analytical skills working with structured and unstructured datasets.
Critical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders throughout the organization.
High proficiency in PL/SQL.
Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, MS SQL Server, and HBase.
Experience with data integration tools such as Informatica, Boomi, Fivetran, MS Integration Services, and Sqoop.
Experience with at least one cloud vendor and its services, such as AWS, Google, Microsoft, or Snowflake.
Experience consuming and building APIs.
Experience with object-oriented or object-function programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or Scala.
Experience with visual analytics tools such as QlikView, Tableau, Power BI, or MicroStrategy.
Experience using Agile methodology for development.

Responsibilities

Participate in requirements gathering and analyze and architect project or system data architectures, collaborating with subject matter experts, data analysts, solutions architects, and enterprise architects to align designs with enterprise standards and the existing environment.
Contribute as a critical member of an agile scrum team and help ensure sprint deliverables are met.
