About the position
The Data Definer role at Black Swan Data is responsible for refining, improving, and evaluating datasets. This unique position combines the skills of an analyst, market researcher, and communicator. The Data Definer works closely with clients and client-facing teams to understand their needs and anticipate future requirements. They also collaborate with cross-functional teams in Product, Data Science, and Data Engineering. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, contributing to the creation and maintenance of datasets that are essential to Black Swan's products.
Responsibilities
- Research and create robust category datasets for analysis and reporting
- Manage taxonomy curation and improvement for structured social datasets
- Ensure datasets across domains are fully maintained and published each month
- Research and create robust social queries to define category and sector conversation
- Utilize proprietary tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams to access, organize, expand, and interrogate social data
- Conduct data-led quantitative analysis to extract insights from datasets
- Build an understanding of domains and tie together trends in datasets to broader industry trends
- Support client conversations and provide insight on dataset processes, category definitions, and content
- Have a passion for creating innovative solutions inspired by data
- Be an organized problem solver with the ability to process large amounts of information
- Possess good listening and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrate strong teamworking and interpersonal skills
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be reliable
- Work both independently and collaboratively with other team members
- Flag any issues to senior colleagues and ask for support when needed
