About The Position

The Data Center Technician (DCT) will be responsible for monitoring, reporting, and maintenance within the data center environment. This role requires a strong understanding of data center operations, including hardware installation, cabling, inventory management, and troubleshooting. The position is based at Frontex Headquarters in Warsaw, with a hybrid work model of 70% remote and 30% on-site. A security clearance of CONFIDENTIAL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL is required, and the screening procedure must be initiated within the first 45 days of assignment. The role involves occasional travel and requires the ability to work in a data center environment, including handling heavy equipment and working in noisy, cold, and confined spaces. The position also requires the ability to work across different Frontex sites in Poland and abroad.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of IT relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar IT role.
  • Hands-on experience with server and network device installation.
  • Understanding of rack layouts, PDUs, cabling standards, and labeling.
  • Basic networking knowledge (LAN, patching, switches).
  • Familiarity with asset management and inventory systems.
  • Ability to follow change management and data center procedures.
  • Basic troubleshooting of hardware components.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in "Rack & Stack" procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Manual Handling proficiency (lifting heavy data center and IT equipment).
  • Ability to work in a data center environment (noise, cold, confined spaces).
  • Ability to work between different Frontex's sites in Poland and abroad DRS locations.
  • Driving license cat. B.
  • Minimum English language skills (CEFR): B2.

Responsibilities

  • Physically installing Data Center components, servers, and network switches, and performing initial power-on tests.
  • Verifying and maintaining DC cabling, including correct routing, secure mounting, and accurate labeling for power and network runs.
  • Maintaining a tidy DC store, accepting deliveries, and ensuring equipment is ready for processing.
  • Managing the entire hardware lifecycle process, including commissioning and decommissioning.
  • Performing regular inventory audits and updating asset registers.
  • Providing detailed reporting on capacity and hardware health.
  • Replacing faulty components and managing the RMA process in cooperation with the DC Contract Manager.
  • Planning rack layouts and overseeing third-party contractors.
  • Actively maintaining the maintenance management system.
  • Preparing notifications for planned maintenance windows.
  • Preparing and performing changes to the Data Centre and IT core infrastructure.
