About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly and is looking for a Data Center Technician to join its expanding Infrastructure Operations team. The position will ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels for data center operations. This position includes computer hardware and network diagnostics, as well as physical repair. This position may also include participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates must be able to work independently and in a team. Establishing work priorities, organizational skills, effective communication and the ability to respond quickly are essential to success. In addition to repairing computer equipment and networks, the candidate will install equipment, produce documentation, provide innovative solutions and resolve problems inside the data center. Requirements

  • 1+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing experience
  • 1+ years of network and operating system support experience, or Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing experience
  • Knowledge of operating systems, hardware, storage, network, security, database administration and cloud infrastructure
  • Bachelor's degree within last 12 months in Information Management, Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related discipline
  • Experience deploying, managing, and optimizing Microsoft Windows Server, or experience in Linux and Networking protocols and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • 2+ years of repair of material handling equipment experience
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience in Network protocols like DNS/DHCP/TCP and experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional inputs, meeting deadlines, and effectively managing competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Onsite coverage as a Team in shifts and/or weekly oncall
  • Responding to high-severity events within SLAs
  • Participate in Data Center power & cooling events
  • Break-fix of servers and network devices
  • Troubleshooting of network connections
  • Coordinating and building relationships with various Data Center teams
  • Interact with third party vendors & contractors
  • Seeking out ways to improve yourself and the processes and systems with which you work
  • Contribute to the development of other team members
