•$144,000 - $208,000

About The Position

The Data Center Electrical Engineer supports the physical design and construction of data centers, focusing on power infrastructure and mission-critical facilities. The role applies electrical engineering expertise to ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements, and optimize facility efficiency. The engineer serves as the primary technical liaison during construction, resolving design ambiguities and field-fit challenges, conducting periodic site walk-throughs, and checking installation quality against engineered drawings and specifications. The role identifies conflicts between design intent and site constraints before they affect the construction schedule, applies local codes and industry standards to promote safe, compliant installations, and advises electrical contractors while helping ensure the RFI process is technically sound. The position also contributes to data center system architecture, research and development, engineering analysis, equipment and facility design reviews, and operations and maintenance procedures. Travel of up to 50% is required, along with field work using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Individual pay is based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The stated US compensation is $144,000–$208,000 USD, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.

  • At least 5 years of electrical engineering experience emphasizing power distribution and construction support for mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage systems, including switchgear and transformers.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to work in the field wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and inspect equipment during the critical construction phase.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of mechanical and control systems to facilitate cross-discipline collaboration.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into actionable instructions for field crews.
  • Ability to evaluate technical risks and make authoritative decisions under tight construction deadlines.

  • Ability to analyze NETA reports and determine necessary mitigations.
  • Experience managing contractors, leading technical resolution meetings, and guiding complex brownfield or greenfield installations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to navigate a complex matrix organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define data center system-level and product architecture and research and development, while helping develop operations and maintenance procedures for systems and processes.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and research designs and methods for data center equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure designs and installations meet requirements, including predicted cooling, structural, and operational concerns.
  • Serve as the technical authority at construction sites and bridge design and execution so complex power infrastructure is built safely and correctly.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison during construction, resolving design ambiguities and field-fit challenges.
  • Conduct periodic site walk-throughs and review installation quality for adherence to engineered drawings and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts between design intent and physical site constraints before they affect the construction schedule.
