AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This role supports all AWS data centers and the associated equipment, focusing on providing innovation to customers. The position involves working within a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS is key to maintaining high standards of safety and security while delivering capacity at the lowest possible cost. The role offers an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and empowers employees to see them through to completion. As part of the global controls team, you will collaborate with experts and innovators in the data center industry. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). Utilizing Amazon leadership principles, you will develop new processes and standards and drive innovation in the controls domain. AWS data centers utilize a variety of components such as generators, uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, and air economizers. These components interact via various communication protocols. The BMS controls mechanical systems, and the EPMS monitors electrical systems within the data center.
