About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Data Architect for a full-time, hybrid remote position within the Federal Government department. This role requires a minimum of five years of experience in data architecture or data management, with a focus on structuring fragmented data environments, utilizing the Microsoft data ecosystem (SharePoint, Azure, Power BI), and applying data governance practices. The position involves leading data framework design, data modeling, structuring, governance, and sustainability approaches, ensuring data integrity and security, and providing technical guidance to the development team. Collaboration on technical documentation is also a key responsibility. This is a 12-month contract supporting a federal government agency, contingent upon contract award, and is a 1099 position. Travel to Arlington, VA and Paris, France will be required.

Requirements

• Five (5) or more years of experience in data architecture or data management
• Five (5) or more years of experience with structuring fragmented data environments
• Five (5) or more years of experience with the Microsoft data ecosystem (e.g. SharePoint, Azure, and Power BI)
• Five (5) or more years of experience utilizing data governance practices
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) security clearance
• Must possess a current U.S. passport

Responsibilities

• Lead data framework design, data modeling, structuring, governance, and sustainability approach aligned to non-technical users
• Develop and maintain data models to represent the organization’s information architecture
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and normalization across databases
• Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure optimal responsiveness and efficiency
• Identify and address bottlenecks, database tuning, and optimization opportunities
• Implement and enforce data security policies to safeguard sensitive information
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to data management
• Provide technical guidance and support to the development team on database-related issues
• Collaborate with the team to generate technical documentation including development planning, technical architecture, software testing, and deployment process
