About The Position

The Outreach Team is seeking experts in voter targeting and turf cutting to be the backbone of their ground operations for the 2026 campaigns. The Turf Director will support voter contact and registration campaigns by ensuring the right voters in the right areas are reached daily during canvassing. Successful candidates will possess expertise in VAN, PDI, and GSuite, and be open to learning new mapping and database management systems. Familiarity with the demographic profile and walkability of the districts is important, as is a commitment to canvasser health and safety. This role involves preparing and cutting turf packets, analyzing canvass results data, conducting density analysis, monitoring data integrity, tracking turf and precincts, contributing to GOTV strategy, and analyzing historical campaign data. The position is based in North Carolina and is ideal for individuals passionate about using data and local knowledge to advance progressive causes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project and office directors, as well as external stakeholders, to identify both our target precincts and our targeted subsets of voters in those precincts
  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff
  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team
  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justice
  • Canvass every week
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work
  • Foster a healthy and safe working environment for all staff
  • Develop strategic plans to reach target voters/constituencies in assigned locations
  • Audit campaign data on nightly, weekly, and monthly basis depending on program needs
