About The Position

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Data Analyst to design and perform statistical analyses under the supervision of the Center of Surgical and Transplant Applied Research (CSTAR) leadership group. The analyst will work with a range of research data sources, contribute analyses and written research products, and support grant and study reporting. The role also involves coordinating with researchers at other institutions and preparing summaries for investigators, study staff, and data safety and monitoring boards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a related discipline.
• Strong facility with Stata, R, or another statistical programming language.
• Strong quantitative aptitude and ability to interpret complex quantitative information.
• Desire to learn new skills and information.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, self-motivation, and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform statistical analyses under the supervision of the CSTAR leadership group.
• Analyze data from electronic health records (NYU Epic), community-based health and demographic surveys, project-specific surveys and assessments, administrative records (including births, education, and Medicaid claims), and other novel data sources.
• Contribute original ideas, hypotheses, and analyses to reports, abstracts, and manuscripts under faculty supervision.
• Support NIH-funded grant proposal submissions and funder reports.
• Liaise with senior researchers at other institutions to conduct analyses for national scientific committees.
• Prepare interim reports summarizing ongoing cohort studies for principal investigators, study staff, and data safety and monitoring boards.
• Under faculty supervision, design analytical strategies for research proposals and draft statistical analysis plans for grants.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
