About The Position

We are seeking a detail‑oriented, intellectually curious Data Analyst to join our underwriting operations team. In this role, you will transform complex data from diverse internal and external sources into meaningful insights that directly influence underwriting strategy and business performance. Your analysis will uncover trends, highlight opportunities, and support data‑driven decisions that shape our book of business.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills and a high degree of intellectual curiosity.
  • 2+ years experience working with relational databases and familiarity with database concepts.
  • Hands‑on experience with SQL, Visual Basic, Tableau, Snowflake, or similar query and visualization tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving experience through coursework or professional roles.
  • BA/BS in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key liaison between Product, Customer Service, underwriting and marketing to ensure alignment on data needs and insights.
  • Analyze internal and external datasets to identify trends, performance drivers, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership, supported by concise and compelling data storytelling.
  • Conduct cost‑benefit analyses to evaluate underwriting changes, operational adjustments, and process enhancements.
  • Develop a strong understanding of insurance concepts, including underwriting models, staffing models, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Leverage available tools and data systems to investigate business issues, validate data accuracy, troubleshoot inconsistencies, and communicate findings to management.
  • Support cross‑departmental data requests related to Service, Underwriting, and Customer Experience.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, State Management, Underwriting Operations & Strategy, Analytics, and IT to support product updates and underwriting system enhancements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
