About The Position

Join a high-impact team supporting critical regulatory reporting initiatives for the U.S. derivatives markets. We are looking to add a Data Analyst to the team. In this role, you'll help define data standards, ensure the quality and integrity of market data, collaborate with industry stakeholders, and contribute to the oversight of both traditional derivatives and emerging prediction markets. If you have expertise in capital markets, data analysis, SQL, AWS, and regulatory reporting, we'd love to hear from you. This role ensures the integrity and regulatory value of the Commission’s market data by supporting mission-critical reporting and strengthening data quality across both traditional derivatives and rapidly evolving prediction-market ecosystems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; or 12 years with a HS diploma/equivalent
  • Strong understanding of derivatives markets, including futures, options, swaps, and exchange operations.
  • Experience/Knowledge of XML, FIXML, FPML
  • Experience in multi‑data‑center or cloud environments, including AWS and Redshift tools.
  • Ability to create detailed technical documentation, mapping specifications, and validation rules.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, external exchanges, and stakeholders.
  • At least one (1) year of experience using: SQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, SQL Server Management Studio.
  • At least one (1) year of experience using: AWS, Redshift, Python
  • Must be able to go onsite at least 3 days a week
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Active Public Trust Clearance is a plus
  • SQL querying skills, AWS tools skills
  • Financial Industry Certifications is a plus
  • Prior experience with prediction‑market data or familiarity with how these markets operate is a plus.
  • Experience with SAS, data visualization using programming languages, (e.g. Python or R), or commercial tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau) (Preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis and develop reporting requirements to define data standards specifications, schemas, and validation rules for CFTC regulatory reporting obligations
  • Develop technical guidance, data‑mapping documentation, FIXML examples, and updated guidebooks that incorporate schema changes and new validations.
  • Support DCMs, SEFs, and DCOs by answering data‑submission questions and maintaining clear, up‑to‑date reference materials.
  • Perform detailed analysis of exchange‑submitted data - including checks for duplicates, missing fields, and other errors, and cross‑dataset mismatches, and conduct multi‑platform comparisons in SQL Server and Redshift to identify and document gaps or anomalies. Additionally, support troubleshooting of UAT and production issues for large‑volume inbound datasets.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders at CFTC including DMO, DCR, Enforcement, and the Division of Data and with external market participants to review and approve data standards specifications.
  • Participate in industry calls, regulatory working groups, validation meetings, while supporting onboarding of new DCM/SEF applicants by evaluating submissions, aligning them with CFTC requirements, and documenting necessary updates.
  • Support data loading & processing team in testing and trouble-shooting input files from external sources into CFTC Datawarehouse.
