The Transit Development (TD) unit within NYC DOT’s Division of Transportation Planning & Management (TPM) focuses on creating public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies to enhance mobility for all New Yorkers. TD manages the bus-related aspects of the NYC Streets Plan, including the Bus Action Plan and transit policy initiatives, and develops localized projects to improve bus operations' quality and safety, as well as pedestrian access to transit. TD also acts as a liaison with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) on public transit matters. The Planning and Policy team within TD is seeking a Data Analyst to support the Transit Signal Priority (TSP) program. While TD plans and oversees the TSP program, NYC DOT’s Traffic Operations (TO) division handles implementation and maintenance. Collaboration with the MTA is also key to the TSP program. The Data Analyst will work with internal and external staff to identify future priority corridors, assess the performance of current corridors, and find ways to improve TSP effectiveness through data analysis. Potential additional duties include data-driven assignments related to Real Time Passenger Information, automated enforcement, bus shelters and stops, and other transit prioritization analyses. This role offers an opportunity to work in a high-profile, fast-paced public sector environment dedicated to improving safety, accessibility, and mobility across New York City. The Transportation Planning and Management (TPM) Division is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound movement of people and goods on city streets, contributing to New York City's economic and social vitality. Its responsibilities encompass planning, street design, technical analysis, signage, transit development, freight mobility, and markings, all aimed at ensuring the safety of vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.
