The Transit Development (TD) unit within NYC DOT’s Division of Transportation Planning & Management (TPM) focuses on creating public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies to enhance mobility for all New Yorkers. This unit manages the bus-related aspects of the NYC Streets Plan, including the Bus Action Plan and transit policy initiatives. It also develops specific projects to improve the quality and safety of bus operations and pedestrian access to transit. TD serves as a key resource for the agency on public transit matters and acts as a liaison with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). TPM is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Planning and Policy team within TD. The primary responsibility will be to support the Unit’s Transit Signal Priority (TSP) program through data analysis. While the TD unit plans and oversees the TSP program, NYC DOT’s Traffic Operations division (TO) handles its implementation and maintenance. Close collaboration with the MTA is also integral to the TSP program, requiring coordinated data analytics efforts. In the context of TSP, the Data Analyst will work with internal and external agency staff to identify future priority corridors, assess the performance of current corridors, and discover ways to enhance TSP effectiveness through data exploration and analysis. The role may also involve contributing to other data-driven projects related to Real Time Passenger Information, automated enforcement, bus shelters and stops, and other transit prioritization analyses. This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-profile, fast-paced public sector environment, contributing to improvements in safety, accessibility, and mobility across New York City. Transportation Planning and Management (TPM) is dedicated to ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting New York City's economic and social vitality. The Division's scope includes planning, street design, technical analysis, signage, transit development, freight mobility, and markings, all aimed at enhancing the safety of vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.
