Data Analyst Intern (Unpaid Intern)
About The Position
The County of Orange, County Executive Office (CEO) Data Analytics Unit is seeking a Data Analyst Intern. This internship offers an opportunity to assist with multi-agency and department projects within the County, focusing on database management, statistical analyses, and data visualization techniques. The intern will support various projects, such as countrywide need assessments, OC Justice through Prevention and Intervention (OC Cares), assisting departments with data requests, and reporting data to Orange County advisory councils. The intern will receive necessary training, including compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS). This is an unpaid internship with a time commitment of 15-20 hours per week for 3 to 6 months, located in Santa Ana, California, with no remote work option. The recruitment deadline is Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:59 PM (PT).
Requirements
- Pursuing or graduated (within the last 6 months) with their bachelor’s or graduate degree
- Completed coursework pertaining to Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related area with a focus on data analytics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong proficiency in programming languages in R
- Proficiency in statistical analysis
- Proficiency in report writing
- Proficiency in GIS mapping
- Proficiency in creating data dashboards and visualizations
- Collaboration skills
- Attention to detail

Responsibilities
