About The Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. The Data Analyst Intern will collect, clean, and analyze data from various internal and external sources. They will develop clear tables, charts, and visualizations that track student engagement and outcomes, and collaborate with supervisors to interpret findings and identify insights to inform student success strategies. The intern will present data in clear, engaging formats suited to audiences from staff to leadership teams, support the creation of dashboards, infographics, and reports highlighting key trends and outcomes, and assist with longitudinal data tracking, reporting, and evaluation efforts to support planning and decision-making. Additionally, the intern will assist with maintaining data accuracy and quality through validation, organization, and documentation practices, and follow institutional policies and best practices related to data privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Must be a current University of North Dakota student
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, formulas, and basic data analysis
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and present it in an accessible way
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and responsive to feedback
  • Eager to learn and collaborate in a mission-driven environment

Nice To Haves

  • Current enrollment in a program such as data science, education, public health, economics, or a related field
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, data cleaning, chart creation, and dashboard development
  • Experience with student success metrics, institutional data, or research projects
  • Understanding of equity-focused evaluation methods and practices
