About The Position

Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, capable, creative, and caring individual to join their team as a Data Analysis Coordinator I in the Admissions Office. This is a provisional appointment, and the selected candidate will need to pass the next available Rensselaer County Civil Service Exam for Data Analysis Coordinator I to be considered for permanent appointment. The role involves performing work under direct supervision with some independent judgment in data entry, database management, and report generation according to defined procedures. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training, distance learning, and serves a diverse student population. With a large alumni base and over 1,000 employees, HVCC is a significant contributor to the educational and economic development of the Capital Region.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited College or University and or a New York State accredited College or University with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or closely related field
  • High School Diploma or possession of a High School Equivalency and 2 years of experience involving database management.
  • Must be a current legal resident of the United States.
  • Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months immediately preceding the date of the test.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare alphanumeric data for entry into database.
  • Maintains and updates single or several databases through data entry and manipulation of file structure.
  • Generates reports as assigned using the various fields of the database in a standardized format.
  • Generates ad hoc reports according to specific instructions.
  • Contacts internal and external parties to obtain data and report results of analysis.
  • May perform traditional word processing and clerical functions as assigned.
  • Supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate analysis or clerical positions.
