Requirements

  • Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Dance by the closing date of the application deadline.
  • Experience supporting a diverse student populations in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Providing engaging, standards-based dance instruction that builds students’ technical skills, creativity, confidence, and appreciation for diverse cultural dance traditions.
  • Teaching foundational dance techniques while exposing students to a variety of cultural and contemporary dance styles that reflect and celebrate the backgrounds, dance history, and experiences of our school community.
  • Planning and delivering daily dance instruction, choreographing performances, assessing student growth, fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment, and collaborating with colleagues to support student success.
  • Coordinating school performances, showcases, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborating and meeting regularly with students, school administrators, counselors, classroom teachers, special education staff, arts educators, families, community partners, and district personnel to support student learning and engagement through dance.
  • Assessing student progress and providing timely feedback on skill development and performance.
  • Establishing and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Supervising students during instructional periods and performances.
  • Communicating regularly with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Maintaining instructional materials, equipment, and performance spaces.
  • Coordinating and producing school performances, assemblies, showcases, and community presentations.
  • Supporting recruitment and participation in dance and performing arts programs.
  • Attending required district trainings and professional learning opportunities.
  • Contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement of the dance program.
  • Maintaining professional and timely communication with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and community partners through email, phone calls, meetings, school communication platforms, and performance-related correspondence.
