Dance Activity Specialist - Flushing, Queens
About The Position
The Dance Activity Specialist designs and facilitates project-based learning experiences in dance. The role collaborates with site leadership to plan and deliver youth development activities, engages participants in dance activities, and supports them through encouragement and resources. The specialist also builds positive, professional relationships with participants, families, and school faculty; coordinates dance-related events and functions; prepares implementation materials and paperwork; and submits program and certification documents on time. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Be a college student or a high school graduate aged 18 or older.
- Have 2 years of experience working with children and/or youth in the relevant specialization.
- Have exemplary supervisory skills at the elementary level and with middle-school- or high-school-aged youth, and an aptitude for motivating people.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Be able to plan and carry out assignments independently.
- Be able to prioritize, adhere to timelines, and multitask.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, or another language based on client needs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with site leadership to plan, develop, and execute quality, project-based youth development activities.
- Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families, and school faculty.
- Coordinate events and functions in the specialty area, such as showcases, exhibits, productions, and culminating events.
- Engage participants in specialty-area activities.
- Provide support through encouragement and delivery of resources.
- Prepare related paperwork, materials, and implementation supplies.
- Submit all program- and certification-related documents in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
