About The Position

The Dairy Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the dairy department, ensuring strong in‑stock conditions, proper rotation and freshness, effective merchandising, and excellent customer service. This role manages daily operations, inventory, labor, and associate development while maintaining food safety and company standards.

Requirements

  • Previous retail grocery or food department leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and food safety practices
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in cold environments and perform physical tasks including lifting and extended standing
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily dairy department operations to ensure shelves, coolers, and displays are fully stocked and customer‑ready
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, rotation, and inventory control of all dairy products
  • Ensure proper cooler temperatures, cleanliness, and product handling procedures
  • Maintain backroom organization and efficient product flow
  • Execute merchandising plans, seasonal sets, and promotional programs
  • Ensure accurate signing, labeling, facing, and date rotation
  • Monitor out‑of‑stocks, damages, and shrink to minimize losses
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product inquiries
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting department environment
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop dairy department associates
  • Create and manage schedules to support sales volume and labor goals
  • Assign daily tasks, monitor productivity, and reinforce accountability
  • Promote teamwork, engagement, and a positive work culture
  • Drive sales through strong execution, in‑stock performance, and merchandising
  • Monitor department results including sales, shrink, and labor efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and department performance
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company policies
  • Enforce proper lifting techniques, cooler safety, and equipment use
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe cooler and backroom areas
