About The Position

The Dairy Supervisor supports the daily operation of the Dairy Department by maintaining strong in-stock conditions, product freshness, accurate rotation, cleanliness, and effective merchandising. This position provides day-to-day direction to associates, helps manage inventory and deliveries, and ensures the department remains organized, customer-ready, and operated safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Support the overall daily operation and performance of the Dairy Department.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to associates working in the department.
  • Help train and coach associates on stocking, rotation, merchandising, sanitation, safety, and customer service procedures.
  • Coordinate daily stocking and replenishment based on sales, deliveries, inventory levels, and business needs.
  • Maintain strong in-stock conditions throughout dairy cases and displays.
  • Ensure milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, refrigerated beverages, and other dairy products are properly stocked and organized.
  • Monitor product freshness, quality, dates, and overall condition throughout the department.
  • Ensure proper product rotation and prioritize older inventory to reduce shrink and product loss.
  • Remove expired, damaged, leaking, or otherwise unsellable merchandise promptly.
  • Maintain attractive, organized, and properly merchandised displays.
  • Ensure promotional, seasonal, and advertised products are properly stocked, signed, and maintained.
  • Monitor out-of-stocks and take appropriate action to replenish merchandise from backstock.
  • Assist with receiving, breaking down, organizing, and stocking dairy deliveries.
  • Maintain organized coolers, storage areas, backstock, and department supplies.
  • Assist with inventory management and communicate ordering or product availability concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Help control shrink through proper rotation, handling, ordering, and inventory practices.
  • Verify products are correctly priced, labeled, and signed.
  • Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service and assist customers with locating products.
  • Maintain department cleanliness and ensure cases, shelves, coolers, floors, storage areas, and work areas meet established standards.
  • Promote safe working practices and immediately address potential hazards.
  • Communicate equipment, refrigeration, product, staffing, or operational concerns to store leadership.
  • Assist with opening and closing department responsibilities as assigned.
  • Support department sales, productivity, shrink, inventory, and operational goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Lead by example and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Provide associates with clear expectations, priorities, and daily assignments.
  • Follow up on assigned responsibilities to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked displays that make the department easy to shop.
  • Prioritize customer service while completing stocking and merchandising responsibilities.
  • Maintain department conditions that reflect high standards for freshness, organization, cleanliness, and presentation.
  • Monitor inventory and backstock levels throughout the department.
  • Ensure products are rotated consistently to maintain freshness and minimize out-of-date merchandise.
  • Check product dates regularly and remove expired or unsellable merchandise.
  • Organize backstock so products can be identified and replenished efficiently.
  • Work deliveries promptly to maintain product availability and protect refrigerated merchandise.
  • Maintain proper product placement according to department merchandising standards.
  • Ensure shelves and cases remain organized, faced, and customer-ready.
  • Maintain promotional and seasonal displays throughout the promotional period.
  • Verify shelf tags, pricing, and signs are accurate and positioned correctly.
  • Monitor fast-selling products and adjust stocking priorities as necessary.
  • Support inventory and shrink-control efforts by minimizing product damage, expiration, and unnecessary waste.
  • Follow and reinforce established food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Monitor refrigerated products and storage areas to help maintain appropriate temperatures.
  • Maintain clean shelves, cases, coolers, storage areas, and department equipment.
  • Ensure damaged or leaking products are removed and cleaned up promptly.
  • Reinforce proper product handling and storage practices.
  • Monitor cleaning responsibilities and ensure sanitation tasks are completed throughout the workday.
  • Immediately communicate refrigeration, temperature, sanitation, pest, or product-quality concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Help ensure products remain properly refrigerated during receiving, stocking, and backstock activities.
  • Follow established safety procedures when stocking and handling merchandise.
  • Reinforce safe lifting, carrying, stocking, and product-handling practices.
  • Safely operate approved equipment after appropriate training.
  • Keep cooler floors, aisles, storage areas, and workspaces organized and free of hazards.
  • Address spills, broken products, damaged cases, and other potential hazards promptly.
  • Report malfunctioning refrigeration or department equipment immediately.
  • Ensure carts, pallets, stocking equipment, and merchandise do not create unnecessary hazards for customers or associates.
