About The Position

The Dairy Supervisor oversees and supports the daily operation of the dairy department, ensuring products are properly stocked, rotated, merchandised, and maintained at appropriate temperatures. This position provides direction to associates, maintains product availability and inventory accuracy, controls shrink, and ensures the department remains clean, organized, safe, and customer-ready.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily dairy department operations and establish work priorities.
• Coordinate stocking, replenishment, facing, rotation, and merchandising activities.
• Ensure dairy shelves, refrigerated cases, displays, and promotional areas are properly stocked and organized.
• Monitor product availability and respond promptly to low-stock and out-of-stock conditions.
• Provide friendly, courteous, and professional customer service.
• Assist customers with locating products and answering product-related questions.
• Coordinate associate assignments, breaks, stocking responsibilities, and department coverage as needed.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering or replenishment needs to appropriate leadership.
• Receive, organize, rotate, and properly store dairy merchandise.
• Maintain organized cooler and back-stock areas to support efficient replenishment.
• Follow proper product rotation, date-control, and freshness procedures.
• Help minimize shrink through proper ordering, handling, rotation, inventory management, and stocking practices.
• Ensure merchandise is accurately priced, signed, tagged, and displayed.
• Coordinate promotional changes, seasonal displays, resets, and advertised items.
• Monitor expiration and sell-by dates and remove outdated or unsellable products promptly.
• Maintain appropriate product temperatures and respond to temperature concerns.
• Monitor refrigerated cases and equipment for proper operation.
• Assist with inventory counts and other product-control activities.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe aisles, coolers, cases, displays, and work areas.
• Communicate product, equipment, inventory, staffing, or operational concerns to store leadership.
• Follow company policies related to food safety, workplace safety, security, and loss prevention.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.
• Provide daily direction and support to associates working within the dairy department.
• Establish stocking and merchandising priorities based on department needs.
• Train associates on stocking, rotation, merchandising, temperature control, customer service, and safety procedures.

• Maintain full, organized, clean, and customer-ready refrigerated displays.
• Ensure promotional and seasonal merchandise is properly stocked, signed, and displayed.
• Build and maintain promotional displays and merchandising features as assigned.
• Maintain accurate shelf tags, signs, and product pricing.
• Identify missing, damaged, or incorrect signage and coordinate corrections.
• Assist with department resets, product transitions, and merchandising changes.
• Maintain organized cooler storage and back-stock areas to support efficient rotation and replenishment.
• Monitor inventory levels, product movement, and department needs.
• Identify low-stock, out-of-stock, overstock, and excessive back-stock conditions.
• Assist with ordering and replenishment activities as required.
• Ensure incoming dairy merchandise is received, inspected, stored, and rotated properly.
• Follow proper rotation procedures to maintain freshness and minimize product loss.
• Regularly monitor expiration, sell-by, and other applicable product dates.
• Identify damaged, expired, or otherwise unsellable merchandise and follow established procedures for handling it.
• Assist with inventory counts and other product-control activities.
• Research or communicate inventory discrepancies when identified.
• Reduce shrink by maintaining accurate inventory, organized storage, proper rotation, and effective product handling.
• Maintain dairy products at appropriate refrigerated temperatures.
• Monitor dairy cases, coolers, and storage areas for temperature or equipment concerns.
• Follow established procedures when products are found outside required temperature conditions.
• Minimize the amount of time refrigerated merchandise remains outside temperature-controlled areas during stocking.
• Follow established food safety and product-handling procedures.
• Maintain clean and sanitary refrigerated cases, shelving, cooler areas, and workspaces.
• Ensure products are properly dated, rotated, stored, and handled.
• Immediately communicate refrigeration or equipment issues to appropriate leadership.
• Follow established procedures for products potentially affected by refrigeration or temperature problems.
• Greet and acknowledge customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist customers with locating dairy products and answering basic product questions.
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer requests and concerns.
• Maintain clean, organized, accessible, and customer-ready aisles and displays.
• Ensure stocking activities and equipment do not unnecessarily interfere with the customer shopping experience.
• Encourage associates to maintain a customer-first approach while completing department responsibilities.
