About The Position

The Early Learning Center (ELC) is nationally recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and adheres to both NAEYC and Massachusetts State Standards to foster the academic, social, and emotional growth of students aged 3 through 5. The ELC serves over 400 students, with classrooms led by state-certified PreK and/or special education educators and support staff trained in individualized instruction. The center utilizes common assessments three times a year to inform learning opportunities and is staffed with a full-time nurse, school adjustment counselor, behavior support specialists, and occupational, speech, and physical therapists. Classrooms are equipped with interactive J-touches and iPads to enhance learning. The ELC also emphasizes play with updated indoor and outdoor playground equipment, including structures for students with physical challenges. The school employs the Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) model for social and emotional growth, receiving recognition for its work in this area. The school benefits from a strong Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Council, offering opportunities for community involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the teacher’s written lesson plans.
  • Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
  • Complies with all building procedures and schedules.
  • Prepares a written summary of work completed.
  • Makes the absent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.
  • Implements effective pupil management procedures.
  • Maintains a positive learning environment.
  • Follows all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
