Cyclotron Engineer (Senior Engineer, Product)

Cardinal Health•Louisville, KY
•$68,500 - $97,800

About The Position

Cardinal Health PET Manufacturing Services manufactures PET isotopes that support improved disease diagnosis, staging, monitoring, and patient treatment. Its integrated domestic nuclear pharmacy network compounds, dispenses, and distributes patient-specific, unit-dose PET products. The Senior Product Engineer (Cyclotron Engineer) supports PET production sites. Production generally runs from about midnight through 9 a.m.; engineers maintain cyclotrons and chemical synthesis units outside production hours and are on call for production issues. Because the systems involve radioactive materials, much planned maintenance takes place in late afternoons, evenings, and on weekends. The primary work environment is a cyclotron and associated facility producing PET radiopharmaceuticals. The facility must be kept clean, orderly, properly lighted, and in optimum operating condition. Employees handle radioactive materials and may be exposed to very low amounts of radiation that are considered safe under current standards.
