About The Position
Peraton is hiring a Cycle Support and Technical Test Analyst to keep the Shared System Maintainer’s schedules, development environments, and test environments running reliably and up to date. The position has the ability to be remote. The analyst supports the Shared System Maintainer’s cycles using IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS), creates and verifies overnight utility cycles, installs changes in DEV/TEST environments, and supports testing and cycle monitoring. The role also involves assisting with ABEND resolution, documenting incidents, and working with Maintainers to identify root causes and permanent corrections.
Requirements
- Two years of experience with a BS/BA degree, or six years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with and support developers, Business Analysts, on-call staff, Release Coordinators, and scheduling teams.
- Working z/OS JCL skills, including the ability to review and correct JCL and coach others.
- Working knowledge of z/OS batch processing, IWS scheduling, and job troubleshooting, including ABENDs, condition codes, and restart/recovery.
- Ability to read job output and logs, including SYSOUT, SDSF, and SMF, to identify root causes.
- Experience with CMS Medicare claims systems (FISS, MCS, DME, CWF) or similar large-scale batch environments.
Nice To Haves
- Hands-on experience with IWS/TWS for z/OS, including plan, calendar, application, and run-cycle maintenance.
- Experience installing and promoting changes in a controlled test environment and with change/release management in a regulated environment.
- Experience administering CICS regions, including user/ID and control file maintenance, and familiarity with CICS batch interfaces and security tools such as Vanguard and RDS.
- Experience troubleshooting batch ABENDs in test cycles and maintaining an ABEND/incident log with trend reporting.
- Experience with FISS, MCS, or comparable Medicare claims systems.
- Experience mentoring Developers, testers, or scheduler teams on mainframe batch practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support for Shared System Maintainer cycles using IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS), including daily plans, schedules, and requested SPITAB (MCS) cycle changes.
- Create, maintain, schedule, and verify completion of overnight common utility cycles, including CICS jobs, DRVFI, application-specific disaster recovery backup and restore jobs, MTL, SMF, and Security tools Vanguard and RDS.
- Manage scheduling changes and provide cycle support for DEV/TEST cycles.
- Install release changes and other requested changes in the Maintainer’s DEV/TEST environments.
- Oversee DEV/TEST CICS environments, including administration of CLERK IDs and Operator Control File IDs, and RACF ID and password reset requests.
- Support Developer and Business Analyst testing in DEV/TEST regions and cycles, including JCL mentoring and ad hoc job requests.
- Monitor DEV/TEST cycles and assist the on-call team with ALPHA DEV/TEST cycle monitoring and ABEND resolution.
- Record ABENDs in the ABEND Log for reporting and email notification, and pursue root causes and permanent corrections with the Maintainers.
