About The Position

RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) has solved challenging problems through research, exploration, development, and prototyping for over 70 years. BBN’s Non-Kinetic Capabilities and Technologies team leverages computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, and physics to tackle customer challenges in electromagnetic warfare (EW), communications, cybersecurity, cyberspace operations, networking, and RF domains for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. BBN is looking for creative, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated scientists, engineers, and developers who want to create, contribute to, and grow cutting-edge research projects for offensive and defensive cyber and EW operations. This requisition is for an RTX intern converting to FT hire upon graduation.

Requirements

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • DoD Clearance: Top Secret
  • Active and existing security clearance required on day 1
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or physics
  • Experience in creative programming skills using one or more of: C/C++ or Python
  • Experience with some assembly language (x86/64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, etc.)
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, wire-level protocols, BGP, RF communications, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Capture the Flag (CTF) experience
  • OS kernel development experience (e.g., Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android)
  • Reverse engineering skills using a tool such as IDA/Ghidra/BinaryNinja
  • Network programming skills
  • Hardware emulation experience
  • Working knowledge of RF signal processing and algorithm development
  • Hands on experience with system architecture design, prototyping, and technical project leadership

Responsibilities

  • Develop next-generation cyber capabilities
  • Create or investigate new types of cyber physical systems
  • Develop exploits, implants, payloads, and communication stacks based on extensive reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, and software development
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to solve challenging problems and deliver actionable results
  • Operationalize software through extensive testing, documentation, and integration with other systems
  • Participate in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze data, test new capabilities, and perform demonstrations
