About The Position

Lyntris is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and solution-oriented Cybersecurity Systems Engineer II to support mission-critical Navy cybersecurity capabilities. The role combines systems engineering and cybersecurity work with cross-disciplinary coordination, technical action-item management, and delivery against established milestones. The engineer supports activities throughout the system lifecycle, from requirements development and architecture through integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment. The position is full-time and onsite five days per week, and requires an active U.S. national security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one. Candidates must be U.S. citizens. The engineer develops and maintains technical documentation, supports configuration management and engineering change processes, evaluates architectures and technical solutions, identifies risks, and recommends mitigations. The role also coordinates system integration, verification and validation, operational testing, installation planning, and Fleet deployment readiness. It supports incorporating cybersecurity requirements and Risk Management Framework considerations into system design, development, testing, and sustainment, while tracking schedules, milestones, action items, and deliverables and reporting to Government leadership.

Requirements

  • Currently hold an active U.S. national security clearance or be able to receive and maintain one; an active DoD Secret clearance with ability to become TS/SCI eligible is specified.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; relevant professional experience may be considered as a substitute, subject to contractual requirements.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, technical program support, cybersecurity engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, or maintaining technical documentation, engineering artifacts, or system requirements.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, system architectures, network technologies, and security principles.
  • Ability to coordinate technical activities across multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently research technical issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.

  • Experience with engineering change management, configuration control boards, system baselines, and engineering review processes.
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, Risk Management Framework, NIST security controls, and Assessment and Authorization processes.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity systems, defensive cyber operations, network defense, or enterprise security architectures.
  • Familiarity with requirements traceability, interface management, system integration, and test planning.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy ashore systems fielding processes, including Fleet Readiness Certification Board processes, installation planning, technical readiness assessments, and coordination of deployment and operational acceptance activities.
  • Experience with Navy engineering and program management tools such as CMPRO, RIPTIDE/SPIDER, or equivalent platforms.
  • CISSP or relevant systems engineering or cybersecurity certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, coordination, and execution of systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements development, architecture, design, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment.
  • Analyze, refine, decompose, and validate technical, functional, operational, and cybersecurity requirements; identify gaps, dependencies, and potential impacts to performance, interoperability, cost, and schedule.
  • Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation, including Systems Engineering Plans, system specifications, interface documentation, engineering change requests, test procedures, and other program engineering artifacts.
  • Support engineering change requests, configuration management activities, technical reviews, and approval processes to maintain system baseline integrity and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Coordinate with Government program managers, lead engineers, cybersecurity specialists, developers, test organizations, configuration management personnel, and Fleet stakeholders to resolve engineering challenges and coordinate technical activities.
  • Evaluate engineering approaches, system architectures, technical dependencies, and proposed solutions; identify risks and operational impacts and develop recommendations and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate engineering activities supporting system integration, verification, validation, operational testing, installation planning, and Fleet deployment readiness.
  • Track engineering activities, technical action items, schedules, milestones, and deliverables; prepare status reports, technical assessments, briefings, and recommendations for Government leadership.
  • Support integration of cybersecurity requirements and Risk Management Framework considerations into system design, development, testing, and sustainment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, technical documentation, requirements traceability, and cross-functional coordination.
