We are currently seeking a Part-Time Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert with 8-10 years of experience required to join our team and fully embrace our commitment to deliver, grow and thrive. This role is contingent upon award. As a Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting our federal government client, you will provide senior-level technical expertise in the evaluation of innovative technologies and research efforts addressing critical government mission needs. You will assess cybersecurity architectures, evaluate technical approaches, identify security risks, and provide recommendations that help ensure emerging solutions are secure, resilient, and aligned with federal cybersecurity standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, information security, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience performing cybersecurity assessments, technical evaluations, or security architecture reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles including secure system design, risk management, vulnerability management, and security engineering.
  • Experience with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as: NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC
  • Experience evaluating cloud, software, AI, or emerging technology security considerations.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher clearance, as required.

  • Relevant cybersecurity certification(s), such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Security+, or comparable credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert supporting the technical evaluation of innovative research and development efforts.
  • Assess cybersecurity architectures, technical approaches, and system designs for emerging technologies.
  • Evaluate cybersecurity risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies across proposed solutions.
  • Review security documentation for alignment with federal cybersecurity standards and best practices.
  • Provide recommendations related to secure system design, software assurance, cloud security, data protection, and supply chain risk management.
  • Assess compliance with cybersecurity frameworks including NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, and other applicable guidance.
  • Identify cybersecurity considerations associated with artificial intelligence, software development, cloud environments, embedded systems, or other emerging technologies, as applicable.
  • Prepare technical assessments, briefing materials, white papers, and written recommendations for government stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with technical reviewers, program staff, and government stakeholders to support evaluation activities.
  • Maintain documentation supporting technical analyses and evaluation findings.
