About The Position

The Cybersecurity Intern joins Epoch's IT Security & Operations function to support the day-to-day security and compliance. Reporting to the Director of Business Systems with day-to-day mentorship, this role provides hands-on experience across identity and access governance, endpoint protection, security awareness training, Managed Detection and Response (MDR) alert triage, and the CMMC compliance program that ties them together. The intern works alongside Epoch's internal security team, contributing to monthly access reviews, quarterly security review cycles, and the documentation that supports Epoch's System Security Plan (SSP). The internship offers exposure to the full security lifecycle — detection, response, review, documentation, and policy. This is a paid 10-week internship offering hands-on experience and mentorship, expected to run from mid-June through August.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Foundational understanding of core security concepts: Identity and Access Management (IAM), endpoint protection, phishing, network basics, Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), and least privilege
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and basic scripting for evidence collection and reporting

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with at least one cloud service is a plus: Microsoft 365 / Entra ID, Azure, AWS, or Google Workspace administration
  • Detail-oriented and methodical, with an instinct to document and verify
  • Discreet and professional, and comfortable handling sensitive systems and information
  • Curious about how security programs work end-to-end
  • Strong written communicator able to translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player who builds trust with engineering, IT, HR, and Legal partners
  • Solutions-oriented and a problem solver
  • Adaptable in a fast-moving environment where alerts and priorities shift quickly
  • Composed under pressure, particularly during incident response situations

Responsibilities

  • Support monthly cloud tenant and account access reviews
  • Assist with MDR alert triage
  • Contribute to monthly security reviews — pulling reports, building summaries, and tracking remediation
  • Help administer phishing simulation campaigns and produce end-user security awareness reporting
  • Support and maintain cyber toolset documentation covering tools in use, ownership, scope, and coverage
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding security checks
