About The Position

As a Principal Architect on FIS’s Enterprise Security Architecture team, the role focuses on ensuring that AI agents used in FIS products and by employees are designed and used securely. The architect works with security engineering, technology, product, and risk teams to support innovation while protecting clients, data, and FIS’s reputation. The Enterprise Security Architecture team reviews enterprise infrastructure, products, and solutions before deployment, focusing on secure design, FIS security policies, and industry best practices. The role develops secure architectures, threat models, security standards, and reusable controls for systems incorporating AI agents, while advising and mentoring architects and engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of cybersecurity experience, including several years as a senior or principal architect designing secure systems for large, complex organizations.
  • Industry certification such as CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, or a cloud security architecture certification.
  • Hands-on expertise securing AI and LLM systems, including understanding risks such as prompt injection, data leakage, excessive permissions, and unsafe tool use, and designing guardrails against them.
  • Strong understanding of identity, access, and data protection for autonomous agents, including authentication, access permissions, authorization, logging, and protection of sensitive data.
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), LangChain, or similar agent orchestration tools, and understanding of how agents securely connect to data sources and tools.
  • Ability to translate security principles into practical reference architectures and secure-by-design standards aligned with frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, and ISO/IEC 42001.
  • Clear communication and influencing skills, including explaining AI risk, guiding technical trade-offs, and building consensus across security, product, and technology teams in a regulated financial services environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing secure cloud infrastructure in AWS or Azure, including cloud authentication and identity federation, least-privilege access, network segmentation, secrets management, and data protection.
  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of emerging AI regulations and governance requirements, such as the EU AI Act, and experience translating them into practical design controls.

Responsibilities

  • Design secure architectures and reference patterns for enterprise infrastructure, products, and solutions that incorporate AI agents.
  • Lead threat modeling and security design reviews for AI features, identify risks, and recommend practical fixes before launch.
  • Review how agents authenticate, which data and tools they can access, and how their actions are approved, monitored, and logged.
  • Create secure-by-design security standards and reusable controls that engineering teams can adopt.
  • Track emerging AI threats and industry frameworks.
  • Mentor architects and engineers across the Cybersecurity organization.
  • Work with security engineering, technology, product, and risk teams to help ensure AI innovation does not put clients, data, or FIS’s reputation at risk.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Modern, international work environment and a dedicated and motivated team.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and respectful work environment.
  • Multifaceted job with a high degree of responsibility and a broad spectrum of opportunities.
