Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies
  • Awareness of current and emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and defense strategies
  • Basic understanding of networks, operating systems, and information security concepts
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical security issues and think critically about risk
  • Strong learning agility and eagerness to develop cybersecurity expertise
  • Self-motivated problem solver with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Good judgment and ability to work effectively within a high-performing security team

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls)
  • Experience with security tools or platforms (e.g., SIEM, vulnerability scanners, antivirus/EDR)
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Exposure to cloud security concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, HIPAA)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response activities
  • Support vulnerability assessments, security audits, and compliance reviews
  • Help maintain and update security documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in security tool configuration and maintenance (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, endpoint protection)
  • Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices
  • Assist with security awareness initiatives and training materials
  • Support identity and access management (IAM) processes and user access reviews
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to promote secure coding and system hardening practices
