Inside the Role As a Cyber Security and Connectivity Engineer for Driver Experience components at Daimler Truck North America, you will serve as the technical bridge between global standards and component-level implementation. Working alongside system owners in both cyber security and connectivity, you will translate requirements into concrete implementation plans and coordinate across internal development teams and suppliers worldwide to deliver compliant, high-quality solutions. Your technical depth will be critical in keeping Daimler Truck's global portfolio ahead of evolving cyber security regulations, while ensuring Driver Experience components enable innovative connectivity solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent and 2+ years experience is required
  • Strong fundamentals in engineering and embedded software development
  • Experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industry
  • Foundational knowledge of cyber security development processes and regulations
  • Foundational knowledge of automotive connectivity solutions and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across engineering teams and suppliers
  • Strong sense of ownership and initiative within your area of responsibility
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of EU and international automotive cyber security regulations and standards, including UNECE R155/R156 and ISO/SAE 21434
  • Experience conducting or supporting Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA)
  • Familiarity with secure vehicle communication concepts such as SecOC, TLS, or PKI in automotive contexts
  • Exposure to hardware security mechanisms such as Hardware Security Modules (HSM) or secure boot processes
  • Familiarity with automotive ECU software update methods and procedures
  • Experience with over-the-air (OTA) software update security considerations
  • Hands-on experience with Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS / ISO 14229) diagnostic standards

Responsibilities

  • Interpret global cyber security and connectivity requirements and translate them into actionable component-level specifications
  • Develop technical implementation concepts that align component design with applicable standards and regulations
  • Define and manage implementation roadmaps, coordinating timing across internal development teams and suppliers
  • Verify component implementations through review and testing, ensuring conformance to requirements
  • Identify and analyze technical issues, propose resolution, and provide clear and timely reporting on status and risk
  • Contribute to the evolution of global standards by proposing improvements grounded in component-level experience
