About The Position

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is seeking motivated students with a passion for cybersecurity, infrastructure, and operational excellence. This internship offers hands-on experience in enterprise security, cloud infrastructure, and Agile best practices in a collaborative and rewarding environment. The internship is a partnership with the Nebraska University System and offers a hybrid schedule, with some days on-site at their Omaha office in Aksarben Village. The internship runs from Wednesday, May 26 to Friday, July 30, 2027. Interns will gain hands-on experience solving real-world problems and will have the opportunity to work with various teams and technologies within the cybersecurity domain.

Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field.
• Strong interest in enterprise security and infrastructure.
• Intellectual curiosity and a drive to learn.
• Experience or interest in one or more of the following: Security operations and monitoring, Cloud infrastructure and automation, Identity and access management or Observability and performance engineering.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside SOC analysts to monitor alerts, investigate threats, and support incident response using tools like Microsoft Sentinel, Defender XDR, CrowdStrike, and Proofpoint.
• Gain exposure to Cribl, CyberArk, and automation platforms used to streamline observability and access management.
• Complete SOC Core Skills, Sentinel KQL training, and immersive labs.
• Participate in Cyber Tatanka for real-world simulation experience.
• Engage with teams across Security Engineering, Application Security, and Access Management.
• Tackle a capstone project such as improving alert fidelity, automating infrastructure tasks, or enhancing observability dashboards.
