About The Position

The Cyber Incident Response Associate Attorney will advise clients on cybersecurity and data privacy incidents, including incident response, breach notification obligations, regulatory matters, forensic investigations, vendor oversight, and crisis communications. The role involves direct interaction with clients, including senior management and IT staff, as well as preparing reports and legal budgets. The position is based in Chicago and offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Admission to a Bar in good standing.
At least 3 years of legal experience.
At least 3 years of experience in data privacy and security, with particular focus on data breach and incident response.
Strong knowledge of data breach and privacy laws, including state laws, HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, CCPA, and GDPR.
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills, including experience with Lexis and Westlaw.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Team player.

Responsibilities

Handle incident response for cybersecurity and data privacy incidents.
Analyze state, federal, and international data breach and privacy laws.
Draft legal notices of data breaches to individuals and regulators.
Advise clients on legal notification obligations under state and federal laws.
Respond to regulatory investigations and inquiries arising from data breaches.
Oversee forensic investigations.
Oversee third-party vendors for e-Discovery, data mining, and notification projects.
Draft breach notification letters to individuals and state and federal regulators.
Draft crisis communications for clients.
Interface with clients, including senior management and IT staff.
Draft reports to insurance carriers and clients.
Prepare legal budgets.
