Under the supervision of a licensed social worker assists with patient management in an oncology setting as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Supports licensed social workers in assessing the psychological, emotional, financial, and social needs of patients and their care partners. Under the supervision of a licensed social worker, provides information, supportive counseling, and referrals to appropriate community resources and levels of care. Assists with care coordination, case management, psychosocial assessments, and crisis intervention. Maintains accurate documentation and ensures compliance with ethical, legal, and organizational standards. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote comprehensive patient centered care.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Master of Social Work (MSW) program.
  • Eligible to participate in a supervised field placement as required by the academic program.
  • Knowledge of social work principles, ethics, and evidenced-based practices.
  • Understanding of psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, case management, and community resource coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA regulations, the NASW Code of Ethics, and UAMS policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision while contributing effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
