About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Technologist to support a high-acuity surgical team specializing in cardiovascular procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong sterile technique, advanced surgical instrumentation knowledge, and the ability to assist during complex cardiac and vascular surgeries while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.
  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • Previous Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience required.
  • Experience working in an acute care hospital operating room environment required.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and instrumentation.
  • Advanced understanding of sterile technique and infection prevention practices.
  • Ability to anticipate procedural needs during complex surgical cases.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and patient safety awareness.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality perioperative patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred.
  • Experience scrubbing cardiovascular and open-heart surgical procedures preferred.
  • Travel experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for cardiovascular surgical procedures.
  • Establish and maintain sterile fields throughout all surgical cases.
  • Function as the scrub technologist during cardiovascular and related surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently during procedures.
  • Assist with surgical counts and ensure compliance with patient safety protocols.
  • Prepare and maintain specialty cardiovascular instrumentation and equipment.
  • Support surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative team members.
  • Adhere to aseptic technique, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent surgical cases.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication throughout the perioperative process.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
